Have you been in long lines at U.S. customs and passport control traveling back to the United States from Curacao? You may not be aware of this but you can easily skip the regular passport lane.
If you have a U.S. passport, a Canadian passport, or a B1 or B2 visa, then you should download Mobile Passport on your phone.
This app from Customs and Border Protection (CBP) does away with the annoyance of that long customs form you get before arriving in the United States.
You scan your passport information with your phone's camera, answer all the customs questions and keep it together with your passport information on this app.
Once you land, you submit your e-form to customs and best of all, you get to skip the regular line at the airport which can get really long and use a dedicated mobile passport lane.
Mobile Passport is accepted at 20 airports in the U.S. including Miami International Airport and John F. Kennedy International Airport, the two main U.S. destinations from Curacao.
How does it work?
Set up your profile.
Enter your profile information as it appears on your valid, official passport. You can set up profiles for your entire family. Your information will be encrypted and shared only with CBP.
Answer a few questions.
Answer CBP’s four brief questions about your trip. Then carefully review ALL of your information for the trip.
Submit to CBP.
Once you are at your airport of entry, connect to wireless or wi-fi and submit your data to CBP. Remember: when you submit, you are confirming under penalty of law that your information is correct. Within a few seconds, you will receive a CBP receipt with an encrypted barcode. Your receipt will be valid for 4 hours.
Breeze through customs & save time.
Follow the Mobile Passport Control signs to the designated Mobile Passport Control line. Show your passport to the CBP officer and scan the barcode on the CBP receipt. And that’s it!
This app is available for download in Apple’s iTunes App Store and in Google’s Play App Store.
